What a Day....

I woke up Saturday night very nauseous and with my head spinning. I knew I shouldn't have eaten all those crab ragoons. I was very determined not to throw up since it is still a scary thing to me. Finally at about 8:30am Sunday morning I did it. That's all I'm going to say about that. All day yesterday I was a mess, nauseous, dizzy, didn't want to even get up to go to the bathroom. As the night went on I was feeling better and this morning I woke up without nauseousness. Now I feel it creeping back. Does anyone have suggestions (besides eating crackers) to beat this nauseous feeling? *sigh.. I am so ready for this part of the pregnancy to be over!

  1. Definitely eat something before you ever even get up in the morning. Do NOT let yourself get hungry. Keep food and a bottle of water in a nightstand drawer. =)

I've heard from multiple places that cinnamon altoids help with feeling nauseous. I was really, really sick earlier with this pregnancy and although I didn't have altoids, I did suck on a peppermint. It did help a lot. Gingerale, a peppermint, and crackers. Yum yum!

I hope you get to feeling better soon. The good news is that this stage usually doesn't last more than 2 or 3 months.

  2. I forgot to say - take your vitamins at night before you go to bed, instead of in the morning. They can make you even sicker.

  3. I also say don't get hunger and eat little healthy things all day. I would every hour on some days. This helped a lot and I agree with the vitamin thing take them at night and then go to bed. I had to do this almost the whole time with M. Sorry I am suppose to be encouraging you. But with A it only last the first few months. I would also say don't get too full either because that was hard on my stomach too. So eat little snacks all day long (during the day I would eat fruit, beef jerky, and cheese). that might sound gross but I didn't eat them all together. They were quick and easy to have on hand. This might not have been any help but I am trying to give some good advice.

  4. I never had morning sickness with any of my pregnancies, but crackers and something carbonated before you ever sit completely up should help and peppermint is soothing to a tummy ache. I use to put one in a warm bottle of water to help landon's colic and it worked.

  5. I never had nausea and vomiting on a regular basis with my kids....my problem was the other end....(hemrrhoids)not fun. I'll take nausea and vomiting any day. I agree with the vitamin thing...take them at night it might help and stay away from "crab ragoons", baby might night like those kind of delacacies. :0) I ate greek food one time and daughter protested and then when pregant with Sam I ate chicken adobe, philipine dish, ended up in the bathroom vomiting. I couldn't even stand the smell....Needless to say baby didn't like that dish to much...if anything I hope this made you laugh. Hang in there, it will be over in a few months.....

  6. Yes, take your vitamins at night, it will help. Also, at one of the OB units I worked on, we used what was termed a "dry diet" for those who had hyperemesis (a fancy term for LOTS of nausea and VOMITING.) The dry diet works like this: if you are drinking fluids don't eat. If you are eating food, don't drink. Leave about 2 hours between eating and drinking. It seems to work. Personally, I found chewing all foods in the front of my mouth to be benificial. Swallowing wasn't the issue, chewing with the molars was. Hope some of this helps.

  7. Nanna's place said it best, hang in their. Most people get over this stage in a couple of months. The only thing I might add to the above suggestions is to cut out carbonated beverages, stay away from anything with to much grease or spice, and just think about how much joy that baby is going to bring:)
